A great addition to my print subscription.
A great addition to my print subscription.
The online L. A. Times is a way of being up to date on what subjects The Times Editor placed into your hands. Excellent!
Lame UI Lame attempt to charge $ for a weak app Lame search feature Lame to charge 2.99 for J Gold
This app takes good advantage of the iPad display. Its like reading the "real" paper, but without getting ink on your fingers.
Not only did the lists of current news fail to include one of todays front page stories, I couldnt find it by searching. I tried about 6 different keywords and several news categories before giving up. Also, the old app allowed users to see a version of the printed paper. That no longer seems to be available.
I love this app, but it fills up the cache without you even knowing about it. I contacted customer support after it got to 1.4 GB. They explained the only way to clear it is to uninstall and reinstall the app. Kind of a hassle.
Constantly misleading publication dates stories from days ago come up as only an hour old sometimes. The latest news section is full of sports it seems like its Half sports doubt most people want that much lame basketball news. Should be a way to filter the junk out.
This app is a memory hog and consumes significant memory yet it is a must have for the Times. Apple news app allows some access but rarely up to date.
Very annoying app. It reloads to top of section as I scroll down through articles. If I begin reading an article it blinks then resets to home page of section. Practically unusable.
Great app!!
Compared to the NY Times, the DC Post and the WSJ this website is really poor. Poor layout, poor organization and poor material (I.e., poorly written). All in all a great disappointment. And then, as others have said, a memory hog. Since the Times future lies in the web, youd think management would pay more attention. Oh well...
This app is ok , but seems the top stories arent updated as frequently as Id like. Like breaking news or world news. Need less car crash and celebrity home articles. Sports need to have more articles also.
Menu low contrast makes it very hard to read. Scrolling left and right through menu is intermittent.
This is a very well designed newspaper application. It is easy to browse, it loads information quickly and it has a high gloss clear white background making it easy to view content. The app allows you to read articles from all the categories the paper covers including entertainment, sports, arts, lifestyle, politics, opinion pieces, top stories and sections which are more important to those living in the region such as real estate and obituaries. Users can modify the topics that A Times for IPAs are displayed on the home page. Users can also save articles to read later as well as share them. Users also can choose to follow more specific topics if there is enough content for them. Keyword search can also be performed but articles only go back so far. You cant search the whole archive. Users are also limited to reading ten articles per month on the app. Afterwards you need to subscribe to a plan or you have the option to read the article by watching a advertisement before it. I think the article limit should be a bit higher. For those who read the publication often LA Times for iPad is a solid supplement.
Horrible app: Constant crashes and glitches, poor recycled content, mis-dated articles, missing content, rarely updated, lousy customer service. Avoid like the plague. Try NY Times or Washington Post.
I so want this app to work. Im a paid subscriber and have an iPhone 6 Plus. I would think my phone would handle the ever changing ad scripts and graphic content, but my daily experience trying to read the stories ends up with frustration and eventual giving up on the days news. Ads frequently are laid on top of stories, and since they started inserting streaming ad video, the app crashes several times in a sitting. Its to the point now where I cant read an entire story without it crashing two or three times. I clear my cookies, unloaded and reloaded the app, turned off all other apps, reduced the font size, and have the latest version of iOS. Nothing is working. I have contacted tech support well over a dozen times, and they respond quickly (impressive) to my app issues. However, the quality of experience using this app has not improved since I started using it last summer. I really want this app to work. I am critical here because I want the Times to get the thing to run properly. A start would be not to launch streaming ads till theyve worked out the bugs. I continue to hold out hope that this app will finally work properly.
This app needs updating. When trying to scroll through news headlines, the page CONSTANTLY flips and reverts to the top of the list. It is annoying enough to make me cancel subscription, as it is near impossible to get to the articles of interest.
...slow, crash pone, inept program. I hate that I pay for a subscription for an app that doesn’t work. It takes ten minutes to download the 40MB or so of offline content for my subway ride, something that use to take a minute. Its not my connection. Its your stupid app. Once downloaded, the app struggles to scroll through a few articles on my subway ride. Only solution is to continually uninstall app and reinstall it to get it to start working again. How hard is it to have an app to download and display some text? Please write a native iOS app that works, and works quickly. Focus on that instead of tracking my browsing data for advertisers.
This has got to be the worst app ever... As well as every newspaper company app that is only worried bout making some $ rather than do what their post to be doing which is relaying the news... Horrible layout... Hire some decent designers that can do layout... Your app looks like a advertising app with viagra ads bigger than your articles... Garbage
I get theyre trying to update this app and improve the user interface. Good news is this latest version loads faster and more seamlessly. Bad news is its still glitchy especially the summary page of headlines when you first log on. The page keeps jerking to "reload" mode as Im trying to scroll down and see which articles to read. Pretty annoying.
