LA Times App Reviews

Great app

News and good information about LA, CA, USA and the world.

Just OK

You can view articles offline, but pales in comparison to the full web version. Its basic as it doesnt include Science, Technology, Environment, Asia, Celebrity etc all available on the full online version. I get more from reading Yahoo and NYtimes rss feeds. So not enough for me here.

Sends You to App Store to Buy Things

I thought it was a glitch at first, but this version keeps automatically launching the App Store to try and get me to buy other third-party apps. What a horrible revenue model.

Love this app

Fast and easy

Almost everything is nice, except sharing to twitter or to facebook makes it crash. Await for bug fix please.

Cool

Its fun to read ours news from theirs newspaper xD

Provide a digital paper

The app is okay, the stories repeat under different topics. I would like an option to view it like the paper version.

Awful, frustrating app

Slow to load. Offline reading? Why bother. As soon as you go away from the app all that content you spent so much time waiting for is gone and you start over if youre not too bored by then. Good content bad presentation. This is my hometown newspaper and compared to the WSJ and my other hometown newspaper apps its embarrassing and frustrating.

Not very good

I have the New York Times app and it is much better. This one just doesnt show enough articles on the screen. It is more like a poorly laid out blog then a real news app, especially sense were talking about the LA Times here. Crashing and such is not a problem, just the layout - and I am a paying subscriber so dont be fooled into thinking that as a paid subscriber that you will get a better app.

Clumsy

Often not responsive and too many ads even with paid monthly subscription. It also keeps forgetting Im a subscriber and makes me re-enter my credentials. Videos connected with articles almost never play.

Good paper obnoxious ads

The obnoxious blinking banner ad detracts from the reading experience so much I read the paper less.

Terrible..... Fail

Since moving away from so cal Ive been using this app, at least when it works. Constantly tells me Ive used up my "free articles" though I pay a monthly subscription. I end up having to delete the app and re-load at least once a month. Also, in the middle of an article, it just shuts down and reverts to my apple home screen. I have to go back into the app, find my article and start over. I should just trash this poorly designed app but its the only way I get so cal sports...grrrrr

Couldnt be much worse

Almost as poor of an excuse for a website as it is a newspaper.

LA Times

Useful and fairly easy to use on iPhone. Gripes: #1) search function very inflexible, misses many articles, especially if in todays paper. Search not presented in reverse chronological order. #2) if a link or ad is touched accidentally, there no way to jump back to where it happened. There is a back arrow at the top, but it does not return to the previous page. Very Frustrating!

I pay for this, why are there ads?

Do they really think Im going to click on these annoying banner ads?

Still terrible

Still cant get used to the banner ads. For some reason I like the Washington Post app much better

Faulty App... Deceiving.

The app freezes and often shows the same news for months! LA times has lost its edge, its not the go to source of info for breaking news. Plenty times have had to search elsewhere, especially for huge news happening around the world. Worst part: I used to be able to read news without a problem since the update, Im limited to 10 articles a month. Would be ok if I was told before hand this would happen. Dislike sneaky surprises. There are plenty of other better news outlets nowadays who I will happily pay subscription for. Not LA Times. Bummer, Ive been a reader my whole life. Before anything was digital.

Does the job

And was cheap

Great reporting!

I use this all the time for latest news reading on my iPad before bed. accurate news coverage.

WTH?! Full screen video popup ads

Not even a paid subscription saves you from the obnoxious, intrusive, classless hell that is loud, inappropriate full screen popup video ads. My pledge, I will boycott every company that ingratiates themselves on subscribers with these ads. Maybe its just better to cancel my home delivery and delete this app, stick with my paid subscriptions of the NYTimes & WaPo
